The North State Community Journalism Project, Inc. exists to produce, distribute and support local accountability journalism in communities across California’s North State.
Our first project, Shasta Scout, was launched in early 2021.
Shasta Scout is an independent, non-profit civic news organization that works to build democracy by reporting the diverse and investigative stories of Shasta County.
The North State Community Journalism Project, Inc. (NSCJP) is a registered non-profit corporation operating under the fiscal sponsorship of the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), a registered 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Donations to our organization via INN are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our EIN is 87-0875823. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for the contribution. Shasta Scout is a DBA of the NSCJP. Donations made to Shasta Scout are not restricted to the project, and may be used for other NSCJP activities.
